Activities

The purpose of activities in every individual's life is to develop and maximise well-being. There are vital benefits in doing this, which include:

- Enhancement of physical, mental, social and emotional health

- Development of competence, achieving mastery that helps to promote self-esteem and self-worth

- Helping a person to realise his or her fullest potential and helping them to rediscover themselves

- Enhancing attentive and adaptive skills to maximise independence in a person

- Providing opportunities for social interaction and emotional release, which helps to delay negativity and promotes positive ageing

- Experiencing pleasure and life satisfaction, and enhancing quality of life

Without quality of life, people can lose their interest in living and it is important to keep the mind and body active whatever our age through activities.

Activities at Healthcare Homes

Keeping your mind and body as active as possible is vitally important whatever your age. At Healthcare Homes we pride ourselves on arranging extensive and varied programmes of stimulating activities and events throughout the year.

Our activities programmes are currently overseen by Debbie Christian, Director of Operations, and are supported by our Regional Activities Co-Ordinators.

They work closely with Activities Co-ordinators in each home devoting their time to providing quality activities and providing a support and communication service throughout each region.

Residents are kept informed through a weekly calendar, posters and newsletters, with activities tailored and designed to benefit each individual.

Nobody is expected to participate against their wishes, nor is their privacy compromised.

Our aim is to help improve quality of life for our residents by creating a stimulating and friendly environment through activities, where each person is encouraged to contribute and feel part of a team and socialise.
