Why did you decide to work at Healthcare Homes?

I had previously studied Health and Social care at college. My initial thoughts for the studies was to go on to study as a social worker.

I saw the position for administrator being advertised and thought I could use both Skills for the job.

What role did you carry out before you came to Healthcare Homes?

My previous post was Administrator / Stock controller for a medical equipment company.

What do you think a person needs to do to be good in your role?

Good organisation,

Good Customer service

What’s your favourite part of your working day and why?

Engaging with the residents, although I do not get to do it often.

What’s been your biggest professional challenge in your current role, or in your career to date?

Taking on the workload that I am not fully trained on and trying to deal with it as best as I could. Learning a new system and how the office is run.

Going back to a face to face role

What has been your biggest career highlight to date?

Passing my studies for Business and Accounts.

What qualities do you think make you stand out?

I believe that I am a very caring/empathetic person

I am also a hard worker and like to achieve as much as I can.

What are your interests outside of work/how do you unwind?

I used to enjoy going to fitness clubs however that has slowed due to the pandemic. My free time is usually taken up by my children.

What do you enjoy/looking forward to most about working at this care home?

I enjoy learning about the residents and their families.

I enjoy being the first contact for most people.

I would like to be able to help make a difference to the home where possible and grow/learn within this environment.

Why did you decide to work at Healthcare Homes?

I moved from another county (Wiltshire) following employment at Cedar Court.  Having worked in one single employment setting for 12 years; I thought of relocating and explore opportunities elsewhere- thus ending up in Witney and at Cedar Court.

What role did you carry out before you came to Healthcare Homes?

Clinical Lead, RGN, Surgical (OPD) Nurse in Saudi Arabia and a Clinical Instructor in the Philippines.

What do you think a person needs to do to be good in your role?

The person needs to have passion; drive to be at their best and aspiration for excellence.

What’s your favourite part of your working day and why?

My favourite part of my working day is knowing that at the end of my shift, residents under my care are all well and comfortable.

Having been able to take part in a complex safeguarding inquest where I was able to reflect the significance of sound clinical decision making to ensure residents’ safety and well-being.

What has been your biggest career highlight to date?

Receiving an award from my previous employer as the Overall Group Ace Employee of the month.

What qualities do you think make you stand out?

Caring, compassionate, reliability and being organised.

What are your interests outside of work/how do you unwind?

Listening to music, rhinestone art, watching movies, chatting and talking to family and friends overseas.

What do you enjoy/looking forward to most about working at this care home?

To see that COVID 19 pandemic has ended so that the home could again entertain residents’ visitors.

Why did you decide to work at Healthcare Home?

A family member had dementia, so she is the reason I wanted to work in a care home.

What role did you carry out before you came to Healthcare Homes?

I worked in the Maintenance department at Oxford University

What do you think a person needs to do to be good in your role?

Common sense and a sense of humour.

What’s your favourite part of your working day and why?

Lunch, I’m always hungry!

What’s been your biggest professional challenge in your current role, or in your career to date?

Every day is a challenge, I can’t pick one.

What has been your biggest career highlight to date?

I got 100% on a multiple-choice exam once.

What are your interests outside of work/how do you unwind?

Spending time with my wife, running and baking.

Getting to know the residents.
