To have passion in what we choose to do. To be dedicated and willing to go above and beyond to achieve your target/goal. Ensure safety and well being of my residents by providing quality care.

Meeting my residents and team. Work with my team. Ensure safety and well being of my residents.
What’s been your biggest professional challenge in your current role, or in your career to date?
Taking Ashley Court from requires improvement to an Outstanding rating.
What has been your biggest career highlight to date?
Manager Award 2018 -BUPA south west, Manager of the Month May 2019 Care Home Professionals. The Links Care Home – When I joined June 2015 CQC rating was requires improvement in four areas and one Good. Took the home to Good in all five KLOES in December 2015. Then achieved Outstanding rating for the home in October 2018. Received Outstanding in Well Lead.
What qualities do you think make a good home manager?
Positive attitude, working as part of the team. A good listener being available.
What are your interests outside of work/how do you unwind?
Enjoying nature. Love music, love spending time with my family. Regularly attend Church services.
What do you enjoy/are you looking forward to the most about working at this care home?
Brilliant team to work with. I love and enjoy my job. My aim is to work with my team and my residents families, friends MDT to turn this lovely place to achieve an Outstanding rating from CQC and CCG/Local authority monitoring team.

A good reputation and I wished to try something different and work in a home environment
What role did you carry out before you came to Healthcare Homes?
Staff nurse in charge of a ward in hospital. I commenced at Ashley Court as clinical lead and RGN
What do you think a person needs to do to be good in your role?
A good listener, good with people, up to date on skills and knowledge within the role, up to date with regulations and changes, supportive, empathetic and understanding
What’s your favourite part of your working day and why?
Seeing the residents and families happy, receiving good feedback about the high standards of care. Going home knowing I have done the best for the home
What’s been your biggest professional challenge in your current role, or in your career to date?
Becoming the deputy manager at Ashley Court, learning new skills to carry out the role
What has been your biggest career highlight to date?
Promotion to deputy manager and achieving a good CQC rating

Patience, understanding, a good listener, empathetic and supportive
What are your interests outside of work/how do you unwind?
Colouring, reading, music and spending time with family

The happy, friendly environment and the people
Why did you decide to work at Healthcare Homes?
My initial application was for kitchen assistant. Due to my personality, I was assured I would make a successful Health Care Assistant and I took this role.
What role did you carry out before you came to Healthcare Homes?
My working life has mainly been around catering. My mother in law had her own business and we catered for a large well-known boat builders for 7 years
What do you think a person needs to do to be good in your role?
In my role, an abundance of motivation is required and communication is paramount. A bright, bubbly personality also helps and knowing when to showcase it. Anything can happen within a planned activity so the ability to change an activity at the last minute is a must.
What’s your favourite part of your working day and why?
My favourite part of the day is when I am carrying out a meaningful activity whether this be group or one-to-one and seeing smiles on our residents’ faces
What’s been your biggest professional challenge in your current role, or in your career to date?
The biggest challenge for me was the transition from Health Care Assistant to Activities Co-ordinator.
What has been your biggest career highlight to date?
The very first summer fete I was asked to organise. This was no easy task. The sense of achievement that I felt after the fete was incredible as we also managed to raise a large sum of money for our residents comfort fund
What qualities do you think make you stand out?
An individual who is detail orientated but able to handle frequent interruptions and has the ability to react to any given situation quickly. Has to show patience and understanding and ensure the very best for residents and staff alike to keep the home running smoothly and to a high standard.
What are your interests outside of work/how do you unwind?
My way of unwinding is listening to music. I enjoy word puzzles as they keep the brain active. I most enjoy seeing my family, in particular my two daughters and my two grandsons
What do you enjoy/you looking forward to most about working at this care home?
Seeing the residents happy and smiling makes my job worthwhile and long may it continue

Good knowledge about the role, and a wide range of skills, Good time keeping, reliable, Good communication, Good organization, Sociable
What’s your favourite part of your working day and why?
My day is full of challenging tasks, I would say it is difficult to decide on a favorite part as I enjoy it all.
What’s been your biggest professional challenge in your current role, or in your career to date?
Probably not being able to get on and complete the jobs, I know I can do, and have the knowledge to do, but regulations do not allow.
What has been your biggest career highlight to date?
Being able to manage the daily challenges I face. Maintaining high standards of the homes environment and being told by others that the home is to good standards.
