Doing whatever makes you happy is the secret to a long life, according to Foxgrove care home resident Doris who celebrated her 100th birthday this week.
Doris Sager moved into Foxgrove in February 2020 and has been a resident of Felixstowe since 1954. A WW2 veteran Doris is still an active member of the British Legion.
Home Manager Leanne Greeves said, “Doris had an enjoyable birthday with her family and even the Mayor of Felixstowe called in to see her, and of course there was a card from HRH the Queen.
“Her three daughters came to celebrate with her as well as all her friends in Foxgrove.”
Doris enjoys reading and sharing stories of her time in the forces and working as a draughtswoman. She enjoys TV, particularly Call the Midwife, Dancing on Ice and The Repair Shop. She also likes to keep up to date with the news.
When asked if she has a secret to long life Doris said you need to ‘just get on with it and do what makes you happy’.
Happy 100th birthday dear Doris from all of us at Healthcare Homes.
