New guidance comes into effect on April 12th for visits to care homes and will remain in place until 17th May 2021 at the earliest.
At Healthcare Homes, every resident will be able to nominate two consistent named visitors for an indoor visit. Where a resident lacks capacity we will consult their advocates or those with power of attorney. If visiting together, the individuals must be from the same household or support bubble. In exceptional circumstances, such as illness, we will we endeavour to support and facilitate a change of visitor.
Children are permitted to visit with family members, but strict rules apply and vary by age group. The care home can give more information. Please accept that the Home Manager’s decision will be final.
As with previous guidance, hand holding whilst wearing PPE remains possible but hugging is regrettably not.
We continue to offer visits to other friends and family members either in the garden or visiting pod. Screening on arrival, wearing of PPE and maintaining a minimum 2 metre social distance applies and there can be no physical contact. There is a maximum of 2 visitors per resident at any given time and visits must be booked in advance and confirmed by the home.
Visits may have to be cancelled at short notice should the Covid status of a home change or if a home is instructed to by local health officials in response to community levels of infection.
We are enormously grateful for the understanding and support that we have received and continue to receive from the families and friends of residents.
