Many of our homes care for residents who live with dementia – a condition affecting more than 850,000 people in the UK.
Our teams have received specialist training in caring for those living with the condition and are experienced in providing care and facilities that provide the right support, stimulation and help.
The majority of our staff are recognised ‘dementia friends’ – meaning they have enhanced knowledge and understanding of the condition and work to raise awareness and support. New team members receive this as part of their mandatory training.
Many homes have dedicated facilities such as sensory rooms and sensory gardens, all designed to provide extra stimulation to those living with the challenges dementia poses.
Free support groups and information sessions are held in a number of homes and we work with families and friends of residents to help them understand how best to connect with and support loved ones who have dementia.
