Mother was a rather reluctant resident to begin with but she was encouraged to take part in activities and every effort was made to that end.
As mother’s condition deteriorated and she became bed-ridden the carers were meticulous in keeping her comfortable. She was encouraged to eat and drink and was always clean and tidy and her bed nicely made.
Mother gradually slipped peacefully away, her dignity being maintained throughout. The carers were extremely respectful to her and most kind, sympathetic and helpful to the family present at the time.
I must make mention of The Hillings Jubilee Street party. The staff worked tremendously hard to make this a memorable occasion and myself and several other family members were able to take mum out and watch her joining in the old songs and tucking into the food. This was Mum’s last event and the family have happy memories and precious photos of her there.
We feel that the care mother received was of the highest order and the dedication of all staff concerned outstanding and we are extremely thankful that mother spent her remaining time in such clean and friendly surroundings.
