Two members of staff at Blandford Grange nursing home in Blandford Forum have been thanked and recognised for each dedicating ten years of service to the home.
Sharon Cork, head chef, and Babs Mitchell, administrator, who have each worked at the home since it opened in 2010, were presented with gifts and certificates by home manager Tilla Wagner, and a special celebration afternoon was enjoyed by all.
The duo was celebrated for their dedication to the home and residents– both of whom have been nominated and shortlisted for industry awards in recognition of their commitment, in recent years.
Confirms Tilla Wagner, “It was a real pleasure and privilege to spend the afternoon thanking and celebrating our fantastic colleagues for all their hard work and dedication over the years.
“Sharon is committed to ensuring that every resident has access to a varied, appealing diet, based on homemade, traditional cooking. She manages her team with passion and enthusiasm, mentoring staff, and spends a great deal of time ‘out on the floor’ with residents so that she can hear their views on the food. She listens to likes and dislikes and her food is based on home-baked recipes that residents love and are familiar with, especially dishes that invoke happy memories of mealtimes.
“Babs is a true example of commitment and dedication when it comes to the care sector. As home administrator, she is part of the fabric of the home, working right at the centre, offering support, advice and knowledge to anyone who needs it.
“Having joined the home when it opened ten years ago, Babs knows the home inside and out, and for most people is the first port of call for anyone needing support or help. She is my confidante and right-hand woman!
“I would like to extend my personal thanks to both Sharon and Babs for everything you do for our residents, their relatives and the team. We are all very lucky to have you both working here at Blandford Grange.”
