Claremont House celebrates grand opening of ‘Smiffy’s Pub’

Claremont House celebrated a joyful milestone with the grand opening of Smiffy’s Pub, a new bar and social hub within the home, named after one of the residents. In a lively ribbon-cutting event attended by the Mayor of Great Yarmouth, the residents and community came together to toast this beautiful new space, designed to enhance social interaction and create cherished memories.

The creation of Smiffy’s Pub was inspired by a heartfelt gesture from Nanette Smith, a close friend of Claremont House, who recently took on an incredible challenge: skydiving to raise funds for the residents’ fund – in honour of her husband, a resident at the home. Her daring leap inspired the Claremont House team and residents to transform an underused room into a bar and social hub, offering a warm, inviting space where residents can relax, socialise, and enjoy events together.

“We are so grateful for Nanette’s generosity and courage, which made this wonderful new space possible,” shared the Home Manager, Alison Fallowfield. “The team has worked tirelessly over the past few months, bringing both creativity and dedication to Smiffy’s Pub. It’s truly a space that everyone can enjoy and call their own.”

The opening event brought the Claremont House community together with friends, family, and local supporters, who enjoyed refreshments, and live entertainment. Residents and the team expressed their gratitude to everyone who contributed to making Smiffy’s Pub a reality, and attendees enjoyed a chance to experience the charming new space firsthand.

Smiffy’s Pub has been carefully designed to create an authentic pub atmosphere while providing all the comforts of home. With its cosy seating, warm décor, and thoughtful details, it’s already become a favourite spot for residents to gather, unwind, and share a game or two of pool. From quiz nights to afternoon socials, Smiffy’s Pub will host regular activities to bring residents and families together in a welcoming, lively environment.
