Georgina is a hero at Olive House

Healthcare Homes colleagues were delighted to get together at a company conference and awards last week to recognize staff and teams who work throughout our family of 48 homes and 11 homecare branches.

And whilst it was recognized that every health and social care employee is undoubtedly a hero, and every Healthcare Homes team was awarded an Inspirational Team of the Year Award, managers had also been asked to recommend individuals for the Hero Awards 2022.

Georgina joined the team at Olive House, in Newton Flotman near Norwich, in 2019 without any previous care experience. Right from the start she proved herself to be an outstanding carer and within six months was promoted to a senior role due to her outstanding work, commitment and positive attitude.

She has been described as having become the ‘go to person’ and her colleagues, residents and relatives know how she consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty.

In December 2020 when the home suffered a Covid outbreak, Georgina volunteered to work with the affected residents and on Christmas Day she moved in to the home and worked around the clock, supporting the manager and head of care to meet all the needs of the residents at Olive House. Sleep was limited, but Georgina always had a smile on her face and reassured everyone that all would be well.

Her positive and can do attitude makes her an absolute star.

Gordon Cochrane, chief executive officer, told the audience, “ I’m delighted to say that we were inundated with nominations for people that managers wanted to be recognized as absolute stars, the backbones of our homes and branches, the heroes we simply cannot do without and Georgina is one of those heroes.”
