Kingsmead join care homes across Swindon to create giant jigsaw

Jigsaw Project participants working together on a community project

Residents at Kingsmead Nursing Home in Swindon have helped create a giant jigsaw as part of a project bringing together more than 20 local care homes.

Each home was given five or six giant jigsaw pieces to decorate, with Kingsmead residents getting involved and adding their own designs.

The pieces were then sent away to be put together by a friend of the home, who brought all 96 pieces together to create one giant artwork.

The finished jigsaw is now on display at New College in Swindon, where residents from across the participating homes came together for the unveiling.

As many Kingsmead residents as possible joined in the celebrations, which were attended by the Mayor of Swindon. ITV News was also there, along with a special appearance from Elvis!

The project has also given each participating home its own smaller version of the jigsaw to put together and display. Kingsmead residents will be able to enjoy seeing how their individual pieces fit into the bigger picture.

The project follows a similar collaboration last year, when Kingsmead residents helped create a community mosaic which is now proudly displayed at Great Western Hospital.

It has been great for Kingsmead to be involved in both projects, giving residents the chance to get creative and be part of something alongside other care homes in the local community.

The team is looking forward to putting the jigsaw together and displaying it in the home.
