The team at Uvedale Hall in Needham Market were quite overwhelmed this week when a basket of personalised hand-made thank you gifts arrived from a former resident’s family.
Relatives of Pam Hores sent a personally written thankyou card to every staff member as well as small gifts made from Pam’s costume jewellery and handmade candles for the men. There was also wine and chocolates for everyone.
Home Manager Suzanne York said, “It’s always lovely when family members take the time to thank us – especially when they may have just lost a loved one. It really makes the team feel appreciated – but this parcel was something I have never seen before.”
Pam, who was in her late 90s, came to live at Uvedale Hall earlier this year and had moved from Slough so that she was closer to her only relatives.
Pam was a lovely lady, said Suzanne, very mischievous, naughty and quite theatrical in her ways – she was loved by everyone. Pam had a lot of elaborate costume jewellery and so it feels like we have all been given a little piece of her to remember her by, she added.
Uvedale Hall has many traditions for people who are at the end of their life and the team are always keen to do whatever the resident wants if they can. Pam was a great dog lover and in her last days her beloved dogs were able to spend time at the home with her.
Amy and Jan Pemberton, Pam’s relatives, said: “We will never forget the wonderful people we met during the months that Pam was at Uvedale Hall. The most kind, compassionate, caring and special humans doing their very best for Pam and for us. We are incredibly grateful for everything they did and we know she was too.
“The care home is so welcoming and has a lovely energy about it the minute you walk through the door. Lovely seeing activities going on be it singing, music, crafts, games or fitness and the food is fantastic too. So, to Suzanne and everyone at Uvedale, thank you so much for all your support, we miss seeing you. From all of the family – we appreciate you all very much.”
“We were all very touched by their kind words, “ said Suzanne. “The things which were said about each and every one of us certainly bought a few tears to a few eyes.”
