The Malthouse is situated within walking distance of our pretty, quaint town centre. With many beautiful locations within easy reach such as Stourhead Gardens, Pythouse walled gardens and Shaftesbury where you can visit Goldhill famous for the Hovis advert and admire the stunning views across the Blackmore vale.

I don’t have a favourite, I love it all

A good all-rounder. Patient, empathetic and a people person. Lead by example. A good sense of humour. Fair to all.
What are your interests outside of work/how do you unwind?
Walking my dog with my husband. Spending time with my grown up children and two grandchildren

Teamwork. It’s like coming to your second home

Learning and developing in to the role of Assistant Manager

Achieving my role as Assistant Manager, I am so proud

Having a good relationship and communication with staff and being organised

Spending time with my son Finley, family and friends

After qualifying and working in hospitality, I took a complete career change and ventured out to retail banking for 23 years.
What do you think a person needs to do to be good in your role?
To have an understanding that our residents are individuals with different tastes and dietary needs.
What’s your favourite part of your working day and why?
I enjoy all the day and as a team player, I like to be a part of the camaraderie present through the home.
What’s been your biggest professional challenge in your current role, or in your career to date?
Transgressing from catering to banking, then back to catering.
What has been your biggest career highlight to date?
Just five months after I started work here my father came up from Bournemouth to be a resident. The care and love shown to him will always make the Malthouse and room 25 a special place for me.
What are your interests outside of work/how do you unwind?
Holidays and days out in our motorhome offer my husband and I the opportunity to explore new places on foot or bicycle, both in the UK and Europe.
What do you enjoy/are you looking forward to the most about working at this care home?
The friendship and interaction with residents and colleagues, the laughter and even the unexpected!

What do you think a person needs to do to be good in your role?
Understanding, patient, outgoing, kind, a sense of humour/fun and being organised
What’s your favourite part of your working day and why?
When we get together for a group activity such as team scrabble and cookery club
What has been your biggest career highlight to date?
Changing my role from cook to activities organiser because I see so much more of our residents
What qualities do you think make you stand out?
Staff interaction, someone you can go to for advice and an individual who works alongside staff
What are your interests outside of work/how do you unwind?
I like to read romance novels. I support Fulham FC and often go to watch them play

Coming in and working with a happy team

Everyday is a challenge, but everyday brings its own rewards. If the residents are happy, I’m happy

A good home manager needs to be a good organiser, be firm and fair and be someone you can talk to anytime

Two children to taxi about to football, swimming and gymnastics. I enjoy all sports and spending time with my family4
