We’re proud to announce that Healthcare Homes’ Human Resources team has been shortlisted as a finalist in a major industry award.
The team has been picked out as one of just six finalists in the HR Impact Award category of the Personnel Today Awards 2023. These awards recognise exceptional contributions and innovation across the profession.
The Healthcare Homes’ entry centres around the success of an employee voice survey campaign – called Your Voice Matters – which was run last year. Other category finalists include fashion house Burberry and London’s newest tube line The Elizabeth Line.
Emma Couldrey, Healthcare Homes’ Head of Human Resources said, “The aims of the employee survey were to give the workforce a voice and, in turn, to help with recruitment and retention of staff, which has been an issue across the care sector.
“We worked hard to engage staff to take part in the survey as we needed a good uptake to give us the best information about how the workforce were feeling to work with.”
Incentives to encourage staff to take part included a treat for every person to have with a cup of tea or coffee while they filled out the survey, charity donations from the company for the amount of surveys completed and prizes for teams which had 100 per cent uptake.
The survey launched in October 2022 and an overall response rate of 74% was achieved. 26 sites achieved a response rate of +80%, including 10 who achieved 100%. This provided the company with a valuable and reliable sample of data to analyse. A total of £5,000 was raised, split across three charities – The Alzheimer’s Society, The Trussell Trust foodbank and The Rob George Foundation.
Following on from the initial survey Your Voice Matters has continued with analysis of the findings followed by homes and teams being asked to formulate action plans based on the findings.
Emma added, “The impact of this employee voice initiative is already having a positive impact and we have been able to see an increase in employee stability. We are now in the final stages of putting together a new people strategy which will place more emphasis on employee voice initiatives for the future and support future business improvements.”
Being a finalist in the Personnel Today Awards shows that Healthcare Homes’ HR practice is of the very highest standard. Winners will be announced at a black-tie event in London in November.
