Healthcare Homes presents £4675 to The Rob George Foundation

We’re delighted to have been able to donate almost £5k to local charity The Rob George Foundation.

The donation was raised at our offices in Ardleigh thanks to Chief Executive Officer Gordon Cochrane who asked his friends, family and colleagues not to buy him a gift for his 60th birthday, but instead to make a donation to the foundation

The Rob George Foundation aims to provide practical and/or financial support to young people with a life threatening or terminal illness. The foundation, named in memory of Rob George who died aged 21 following a long battle with leukaemia, also helps young people in the world of sport or the performing arts who may be held back from pursuing their goals due to their financial situation.

Rob’s father, Philip George, is chairman of the foundation that Healthcare Homes regularly support by taking part in fundraising walks and treks.

Mr Cochrane said, “When I was planning my 60th birthday I didn’t want  gifts, so a charity donation seemed a great thing to do and The Rob George Foundation is one which is close to all our hearts at Healthcare Homes so I was delighted to support Philip and his team in the great work they do.”

Mr George said, “ Our average grant is around £600 so thanks to Gordon, his family and the team at Healthcare Homes we will be able to help another seven or eight young people. This is a really generous donation, which truly helps us to achieve our aim of ‘Making a difference, one individual at a time’ which is just what Rob wanted.”

Founded in 2005, Healthcare Homes has 48 high quality residential, nursing and specialist care homes located across the East and South of England as well as 11 homecare branches across the south and east of the UK. The company has recently been named in the Top 20 care home groups for the seventh year in a row by independent review website carehome.co.uk and is a shortlisted finalist for Care Home Group of the year in the National Care Awards.
