Mill Lane Care Home welcomes Cathrine as new Home Manager

Bringing a smile to everyone’s face is one daily aim for Cathrine Arbon who has started in her new role as Home Manager at Mill Lane Care Home in Old Felixstowe, Suffolk.

Mill Lane is part of the Healthcare Homes family of 47 homes and offers specialised nursing care for the elderly. The Home, which was once the local doctor’s surgery, has been sympathetically extended and has an enviable reputation in the local area.

Cathrine is excited to be leading the home in 2022 and has a well-established career in the care sector including as deputy manager of a care home, clinical lead and most recently clinical link nurse for West Suffolk CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group), supporting 52 homes during the first waves of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I have been into a lot of care homes during my career and the atmosphere at Mill Lane is wonderful – it’s a place where I really want to work and I am sure where people really want to live.

“ I love to watch the daily life of the care home, see people coming out of their rooms and meeting up in the day room, getting going with activities and being themselves.

Cathrine wants the home to be the best it can be and is looking forward to renewing and extending links with the local community as Covid restrictions begin to be lifted.

“I need to spend time getting to know everyone, my team, the residents and the relatives, I want to encourage people to aspire to be their very best and to support them to do just that. I want Mill Lane to be exceptional, a wonderful experience for the residents, bringing a smile to their faces every day.”

The home is registered Good in all five categories – safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led – by the Care Quality Commission (CQC)
