Oaktree residents enjoy Guinea pig pet session

Oaktree care home, in Yate, is delighted to share the joy that its residents recently experienced during a special visit from two adorable guinea pigs, brought in by one of the home’s dedicated nurses, Tracy. This heartwarming interaction is part of Oaktree’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the well-being of its residents through engaging and therapeutic activities.

Friendly visitors

The visit was not the first time Tracy has brought her beloved guinea pigs to the care home, and each time they have been a hit among residents. The opportunity to interact with the gentle, furry companions provides numerous benefits, including reducing stress, lifting spirits, and fostering a sense of connection among residents.

Animal interactions

Home Manager of Oaktree, Pamela Arnsmeyer, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Tracy for bringing her guinea pigs in for the residents to enjoy. Pet therapy is a wonderful way to bring comfort and happiness to those in our care, and it’s clear that the residents look forward to these visits.”
The guinea pigs’ visit is just one of the many activities that Oaktree Care home organises to create a warm and engaging environment for its residents. The care home recognises the importance of providing a variety of experiences that cater to both the physical and emotional needs of those it supports.
