Agnieszka McDonald has joined the Healthcare Homes family as manager of Haughgate House in Woodbridge and is looking forward to getting to know the families and local community around the home.
Originally from Poland, where she did an Engineering degree, Aggie came to the UK in the late 1990s to improve her English and met her husband on New Year’s Eve. They have now been married for 25 years and have two children.
Aggie started working in a care home close to her own home when her children were young, starting part time on evening shifts, working as activity co-ordinator and quickly progressing to Deputy Manager and then Manager. She has since managed Homes for BUPA, Four Seasons and the Freemasons’ care charity.
“It was a surprise to me just how much I enjoyed working in the care sector, “ said Aggie. “My residents are always my priority and I try to always give to them what I would want from a care home.
“Haughgate House is a beautiful home with a passionate team of carers. I am looking forward to getting to know all of my residents and their families well.”
Aggie and the team have already started planning for Christmas at the home with a bazaar on the calendar as well as minced pie and mulled wine events for families and friends.
When she is not at work Aggie enjoys spending time with her family at their Colchester home. She likes walking and has recently walked Ben Nevis with her husband.
