Aldringham Court Celebrate World Wildlife Day with Creative Collage

Residents at Aldringham Court recently celebrated World Wildlife Day with a creative group activity that brought colour, conversation and collaboration to the home.

Throughout the day, residents worked together to create a large wildlife-themed collage. The artwork included elephants, butterflies, rabbits, rhinos and deer.

Each resident added their own painted design to the display. Monica painted the Earth, which became the centrepiece of the collage.

As a result, the finished artwork will soon take pride of place within the home.

World Wildlife Day takes place every year on 3 March. The United Nations introduced the day in 2013 to highlight the importance of wildlife and biodiversity.

It also marks the anniversary of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), signed in 1973 to protect endangered animals and plants.

Activities like this help residents stay engaged with global events while enjoying creative expression.

The collage activity encouraged teamwork, conversation and reflection on the natural world.

The activity reflects Healthcare Homes’ wider focus on nature and environmental awareness.

The group received a letter from Sir David Attenborough praising its InBloom initiative, writing: “I am so glad your InBloom initiative has proved such a success that it is returning this year. Congratulations.”

Aldringham Court sits in the village of Aldringham near the Suffolk Heritage Coast. The nursing home is surrounded by three acres of gardens and woodland, creating a calm and welcoming environment.

Inside the home, residents enjoy bright rooms, a conservatory, comfortable lounges and peaceful views of the surrounding landscape.

The team at Aldringham Court focuses on creating a warm community atmosphere. Staff take time to know each resident and support them with personalised residential, nursing and respite care. Events such as World Wildlife Day activities help bring residents together and add variety to daily life at the home.
