Residents at Bedhampton Court in Havant recently marked International Polar Bear Day with a themed arts and crafts session designed to inspire creativity and raise awareness of the global conservation day.

International Polar Bear Day, observed each year on 27 February, highlights the challenges polar bears face in the wild, particularly the impact of climate change on their Arctic habitat. The day aims to encourage greater understanding of environmental conservation while offering opportunities for communities to engage in related activities.

At Bedhampton Court, residents took part in a hands-on workshop creating their own polar bears and igloos using paper plates, recycled cardboard tubes and craft materials. The session provided a light-hearted way to reflect on the theme of the day while encouraging conversation, shared memories and teamwork.

Supported by the home’s activities team, residents enjoyed the opportunity to express themselves creatively. The finished designs were displayed within the home, showcasing the imagination and skill involved in each piece.

The team recognises the value of structured, meaningful engagement in supporting cognitive stimulation, fine motor skills and emotional wellbeing.

By incorporating national and international awareness days into its events calendar, Bedhampton Court helps residents remain connected to the wider world while enjoying a warm, community-focused environment supported by round-the-clock professional care.
