Fornham House prepare to welcome first residents to its new extension.

Fornham House care home in Fornham St Martin, Bury St Edmunds has been busy preparing to welcome its first residents to a new, purpose-built extension. Commissioned by the home’s operator Healthcare Homes Group, the new facility will extend Fornham’s dementia care offering, allowing it to cater for a further 17 residents.

14th July 2021 saw the official launch of Fornham’s new extension, with Regional Director Katherine Foley in attendance, along with special guest Tim Ball, previously an extra in the sitcom Dad’s Army! Knowing of the exceptional care provided at Fornham, Tim commented “Sadly my father passed away in March 2020, but my mum is still here and is very happy and well looked after. We have always been very happy with the care received by Fornham House, and certainly with the staff, who are always very attentive and have certainly looked after my parents very well.”

Since the launch, residents have been settling into their beautifully designed, modern accommodation. Desiree Jooste, manager at Fornham and her team had been busy preparing the new rooms to ensure a relaxed move-in for residents.

The brand-new extension is tastefully decorated, with 17 en-suite rooms allowing plenty of space for residents to live comfortably. As well as being well-equipped with modern facilities, the extension also offers a number of stylish lounges and open-plan dining areas, for residents to enjoy a choice of dementia-friendly activities. Views of the beautiful, landscaped gardens at Fornham House can be enjoyed from the decking area and an internal courtyard means that residents can enjoy outdoor spaces safely.

In addition to the home’s new extension, Fornham House is already well-established, with a strong reputation for quality nursing, residential and dementia care in the local area. The team also provides care on a permanent and respite basis; so, you can be reassured your care needs are met. The main house offers 71 en-suite bedrooms, spacious communal areas, restaurant-style dining rooms and even an in-house hair salon, providing regular pampering treatments such as manicures and hand massages.
