Handford House receives shoes from Usain Bolt-linked company

Residents at Handford House in Ipswich have received specialist footwear from local company Enertor.

The company has a high-profile connection to Olympic champion Usain Bolt.

Bolt began working with Enertor ahead of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. He later became an ambassador and part-owner of the company.

The specialist footwear is now available at Handford House. Residents can wear them where it is suitable for their individual needs.

Supporting the local community

Enertor is based in Ipswich and has welcomed the chance to support a local care home.

Bente Smith-Rewse, biomechanics specialist and director at Enertor, said:

“As an Ipswich-based company, supporting the local community is something that is important to us.

“We were pleased to be able to provide the footwear to Handford House and hopefully give residents the opportunity to benefit from it.

Handford House Home Manager Agnieszka McDonald also welcomed the support.

“We are very grateful to Enertor for thinking of Handford House and providing this specialist footwear for our residents,” she said.

“Not every resident will need this type of footwear. However, having a selection available means we can use it where it is appropriate.

“It is lovely to see a local Ipswich company supporting our residents in this way. We really appreciate their generosity.”

Life at Handford House

Handford House is on Cumberland Street in Ipswich. The 52-bedroom home provides residential, nursing, respite and dementia care.

The home offers a warm and comfortable setting. Care is tailored to each resident’s individual needs and preferences.

Residents can enjoy gardens, patio areas, lounges and activity rooms. The home also has a minibus and specialist equipment.

Handford House is also home to Ray’s Café. The café gives residents a dedicated place to meet friends and relatives.

The home is part of Healthcare Homes, which operates 48 care homes and eight homecare branches across the South and East of England. More than 3,500 staff work across its services, supporting residents and clients with their individual care needs.
