Bristol Ballet brings joy to Oaktree residents

Dancing is not just a form of entertainment; it’s a way of spreading joy and creating beautiful memories. Residents at Oaktree in Yate had the pleasure of experiencing this firsthand when they were treated to a performance by Bristol Ballet.

The special visit of Bristol Ballet to Oaktree was carefully arranged by the home’s activity coordinator. The goal was simple – to bring some extra joy and entertainment to the residents, many of whom love all types of dancing.

The ballet dancers spent a wonderful two hours enchanting the residents and some of the care team with a variety of ballet acts, complete with colourful costume changes. From graceful pirouettes to elegant leaps, the residents were treated to a visual feast of elegance and beauty.

The dancers engaged in friendly conversations, sharing stories and experiences with the residents. It was a great opportunity to go dancing down memory lane with a number of tales from the past. Dancing, in general, had played a significant role in the lives of a few residents, and they were excited to reminisce about their own experiences.

Home Manager Pamela Arnsmeyer said, “The visit from Bristol Ballet was an absolute hit among the residents. They were thoroughly entertained and left with smiles on their faces. In fact, they enjoyed it so much that they’ve already asked for the ballet dancers to return for another performance in the future.”

Pam, added that in addition to ballet, the residents at Oaktree have also had other types of dancers visit. Just recently, they had ballroom dancers come in as some of the ladies at Oaktree are big fans of the TV show Strictly Come Dancing which is currently regular Saturday night viewing at the home.

“We are grateful to the company for coming along and spending time with us,” said Pam, “It was a great example of how the power of the arts can bring people together and create moments of joy. Our residents are eagerly looking forward to more visits from talented performers in the future.”

Oaktree care home is part of the Healthcare Homes family of care homes and home care branches. The company ranks in the Top 20 care home groups for the eighth year in a row on the independent review website carehome.co.uk. Oaktree boasts an impressive score of 9.4 out of 10 on the same website.
