Foxearth Lodge celebrates esteemed Head Housekeeper

Foxearth Lodge, located in Woodbridge, recently honoured Sandra Hambling, their esteemed Head Housekeeper, for her remarkable 41 years of dedicated service. Sandra, now 78 years old, is an integral part of the Foxearth Lodge family, embodying the spirit of care and community that the home prides itself on.

Honouring our team

Throughout her tenure, Sandra has seen multiple generations of her own family join the home’s team. Her daughter, Suzanne, continues the family tradition in the housekeeping department. Her daughter-in-law has taken up the role of Head Chef, and her granddaughter, Kiera, at just 17 years old, has been helping prepare suppers and baking cakes. Kiera’s delightful cakes are always a highlight of many of the home’s events.

A deep connection

Sandra’s late husband also shared a deep connection with the home, serving as the gardener for many years. In his later years, he became a resident at the home, battling dementia, Parkinson’s, and cancer. Sandra’s unwavering dedication was evident as she continued her work shifts while staying by his side every evening until his passing seven years ago.

A home from home

Despite the years and the challenges, Sandra’s commitment remains unshaken. “This is my home and I love being here. I love all the residents and everybody who works here is brilliant,” she shared, expressing no immediate plans for retirement. Sandra’s passion for her work and her deep-rooted connection to Foxearth Lodge is an inspiration to all.

The support of friends and family

Living in Framlingham, Sandra does not drive and has relied on the generous support of a fellow staff member for her daily commute. This dedication to her role and her consistent presence at the home have made her an irreplaceable part of the Foxearth Lodge family.

Healthcare Homes and Foxearth Lodge are immensely proud to celebrate Sandra’s extraordinary journey and look forward to many more years of her unparalleled service.
