Generous donation from The Reydon Trust provides Oaklands House with the latest ‘tiny tablet’

Residents at Oaklands House in Reydon, Suffolk, are enjoying using their new ‘magic’ table thanks to a generous £5k donation from The Reydon Trust.

A Tiny Tablet is a fully integrated, portable and adjustable interactive 39” touch screen table, used in the same way as an iPad or smart phone. The tablet, specifically designed for use in a care home, can connect to WiFi, making it an ideal resource to be used in group activity settings or on a 1:1 basis.

Home Manager Ian Gooch said, “This fabulous tablet was unveiled at the home during a celebration tea party attended by residents and relatives. We were joined by our chief executive Gordon Cochrane and also John Morgon, owner of ‘Inspired Inspirations’ the company which provided the tablet for us, who both enjoyed seeing the tablet in action.

“Without the Reydon Trust this wouldn’t have been able to happen and we are all extremely grateful to them for the generous donation which has given the home access to this wonderful piece of technology.”

The Reydon Trust provides one-off grants for people who live in the parish of Reydon, near Southwold, and were delighted to help the Oaklands House purchase the tablet for the residents to benefit from.

Through their engaging interaction with the “Tiny Tablet”, our residents are able to unlock three paramount benefits of play that hold the key to enhanced wellbeing:

1. Sensation: The tablet stimulates the senses, creating an avenue for people to connect with the world around them in novel and exciting ways.
2. Relaxation: By providing an engaging, yet soothing experience, the “Tiny Tablet” helps users unwind, reducing anxiety and promoting a sense of calmness.
3. Reminiscence: The interactive platform can help stimulate memories, fostering a connection with the past and improving cognitive function.
6. Ian added, “Our residents were engaged with and interested in the tablet from the very onset. The possibilities within it make this device such an important addition to the activities provided here at Oaklands House and will help to improve the quality of activities here for years to come.”

Oaklands House is surrounded by five acres of mature woodland and has some beautiful communal areas. The stunning south-facing conservatory is ideal for peace and quiet but is also a popular meeting place for residents and guests.
