Oaklands House care home takes part in the Reydon Scarecrow Trail

Residents and staff at Oaklands House in Reydon, Southwold, decided to take part in the village scarecrow trail for the first time this year. A scarecrow duo featuring a carer and a resident was artfully put together to stand at the front of the home on Lowestoft Road.

Activity Co-ordinator Leanne Carrington-Payne explained, “It was a great way to get involved in an established community event, getting people to come and see the home even if it is just to get a look at our scarecrows.

“We were number two on the list of more than 50 scarecrows so people were still enthusiastic at the start of their trail and we had lots of visitors and heard some great comments about our scarecrows.”

Leanne made the scarecrows with help from a team of residents and some members of the staff team. The trail, which took place over a weekend, raises funds for the Reydon Christmas Lights which Oaklands residents also enjoy going to see during the festive season.

Oaklands House is surrounded by five acres of mature woodland and has some beautiful communal areas. The stunning south-facing conservatory is ideal for peace and quiet but is also a popular meeting place for residents and guests. Silver service helps to create wonderful mealtime experiences at the home and residents thrive in a happy, homely environment with a small team of regular staff who are dedicated to providing the very best care to residents.

Oaklands House is part of Healthcare Homes family of 48 care homes and 11 homecare branches. The company has recently been named in the Top 20 care home groups for the seventh year in a row by independent review website carehome.co.uk. Oaklands House has a 9.8 out of 10 score on carehome.co.uk and is rated Good by the Care Quality Commission.
