New manager at Foxearth Lodge Care Home Roxanne Cutajar loved the Suffolk home from the first time she walked in.
“Foxearth Lodge is so calm, warm and welcoming, It’s in a beautiful, rural location and there is a real family feel that is extended to everyone, the residents, the relatives, visitors and the staff. I felt it as soon as I visited and once I started work here I was embraced as part of the Foxearth family. The team make the home a wonderful place to work and live in as they work extremely hard and think of Foxearth as their home too.”
Roxanne trained as a general nurse in Malta and worked on a surgical ward at Ipswich Hospital when she came to England in 2017. She has also worked as a night nurse manager, clinical lead and disability assessor but she fell in love with care work.
“I had worked for 2 years in a care home in Malta but went back to nursing when coming to England as it is what I was most experienced in. But I soon realised I love working in the elderly care sector.
“You can really get to know your residents in a care home, you see them every day and can form strong relationships. I came to think of our residents as I would my grandma or grandpa.”
Roxanne is looking forward to involving relatives and friends in Foxearth Lodge life a lot more as Covid-19 visiting restrictions are lifted.
“Everyone is keen to see the families back in the home, taking part in activities and events as well as visiting their loved ones. The home also has an excellent relationship with the local community so I hope to build on that and have local groups visit us as soon as we are able to.”
Outside of work Roxanne is mum to identical twin boys who she loves to spend time with and who, at 20 months, keep her and her partner busy with zoo trips, games, baking and all those things toddlers love to get into.
