Healthcare Homes is delighted to announce the appointment of Suzanne York as new Home Manager at Uvedale Hall.

Suzanne has worked in health and social care for more than three decades, beginning her career at just 17 as one of Suffolk’s first community carers following the introduction of the Community Care Act.
Over the years she has developed extensive experience across the sector, taking on a wide range of roles from hands-on care through to regional senior and management positions.
Her connection with Uvedale began at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, when she joined the home as Head of Care. Just six months later, Suzanne stepped in to lead the home at a time when the sector faced extraordinary challenges.
Drawing on her knowledge, leadership skills and compassion, she supported residents and staff through the most difficult of circumstances, and in 2021 was formally appointed as Home Manager.

After taking a short break in 2024, Suzanne has now returned to Uvedale – a place she calls her “true home”.
“Uvedale is where I belong,” Suzanne said. “It’s a home built on love, commitment and community spirit. The staff care for residents as though they were their own family, and that creates such a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The laughter in the home is infectious – it’s a special place to live and work.”
Suzanne says the most rewarding part of her role is the difference she sees her team making to residents every single day.
“It doesn’t have to be grand gestures – often it’s the little things that mean the most,” she explained. “Something as simple as a smile, a conversation, or a thoughtful act can brighten someone’s day. Knowing we’ve made that impact is priceless.”
Her leadership style centres on people first – both residents and colleagues.
“My focus has always been on the people who live here, and the staff who care for them. Without them, there is no Uvedale. Supporting and developing the team is just as important as supporting our residents, because a happy, well-cared-for team provides the very best care.”
She also hopes her story inspires others to consider a career in care. “Buckle up and enjoy the ride,” she advises. “Every moment matters, and every act of kindness makes a difference. Working in care isn’t always easy, but it is the most rewarding and meaningful career you can choose.”
Reflecting on her journey so far, Suzanne says she is proud to be leading Uvedale into its next chapter:
“I’ve been given the opportunity to manage a truly wonderful place, alongside a fantastic team. Uvedale is more than just a care home – it’s a family – and I wouldn’t change it for the world.”
