Rob George Foundation Fundraiser

A team from Healthcare Homes Group recently came together to take part in Rob’s Big Walk in aid of The Rob George Foundation. The team donned their walking boots and set off on the fundraising walk following The Essex Way between Epping and Harwich.

The charity is run by Philip George, and his wife Lorraine in memory of their son Rob George, who sadly passed away in 2013, aged 21, following a long battle with leukaemia. It was Rob’s wish to set up a foundation that would support young people with life threatening or terminal illnesses and to provide financial support for young people who demonstrate exceptional commitment or ability in the worlds of sport or the performing arts but are held back by their financial situation.

This year, the team from Healthcare Homes Group were determined to raise as much as they could, and so set their target at 200 miles, collectively achieved across two days. The team smashed that target, with Chief Financial Officer Matt King confirming “The team at Healthcare Homes covered a cumulative total of more than 220 miles over the weekend. Whilst we welcomed the cooler conditions, the ground conditions and rain made the walk far more challenging than we ever expected”. Despite the tough going, the team were set on completing the walk and raising as much as they could to support such an important cause.

Matt praised the team for their efforts, commenting “I am proud of each and every member of the team that took part and can’t thank them enough for their commitment and drive.  The team has managed to raise in excess of £3,000 for The Rob George Foundation, a charity that is close to our hearts.  My sincere thanks go out to all those that sponsored us.  A phenomenal outcome for a very worthy cause”.
